When I was a kid, I thought “dik si” was such a special name – a Cantonese transliteration of “taxi.” I believed “taxi” was one of the first English words I could confidently say =P. I also thought taxis were always red, until my parents took me to the New Territories, where I saw green ones, and even blue ones on Lantau.
To me, despite newer taxi models being more spacious and comfortable, I still prefer the old-style 5-seater ones because of the particular memories I have of them. I’ll share more through my lens later.
